Wow, I realised we have been on similar journeys. I did the exact same thing at 30. I didn't travel either, got many questions as to why. And guess what, I found my way by not going anywhere too. I am glad I came across this essay!

That was a great post, Chenshuz!

Sometimes, taking a break and trying out the things that you always wanted to try pay off, as you either change up your life completely, or you learn more about yourself and your interests.

However, while reading the blog, I got curious about something: what's the experience you believe was the most important to you in this sabbatical year?

During the sabbatical, all I did was to try to get close to the mental state I had at burning man but in real life.

I enjoyed reading about your experience. It's very similar to mine. There's a sense that sabbaticals have to be these huge round-the-world trips where you leave your entire life behind. But I think they're really about self-exploration.
